Your household has no real emergency plan.

Forty-five pages you print, fill in and keep, sized to the people, pets and house you actually have.

The Ready Home Planner cover: a printed planner open on a kitchen table, with the title set in dark green on cream.

The problem

Most homes own the start of a kit, not a plan.

A flashlight that may or may not work. Two bottles of water. A first aid kit from 2014. Almost nobody has a page that says what to do in the first five minutes, or how much water the people in that particular house actually need.

Generic checklists fail because your household is not generic. You have a toddler, a parent on a nebulizer, a dog, a well, electric heat and a second floor. A laminated list from the internet does not know any of that.

The planner starts with the household page. Everything after it is arithmetic on top of those numbers, so the same book fits a flat for two and a farmhouse for seven.

A planner page headed The household, with fields for adults, children, infants, seniors, pets, water supply and heating.
The household page takes five minutes and sets every quantity that follows.

What you get

One download, one print job, one binder.

Forty-five letter-size pages, laid out to be written in rather than read once. Hole-punch them, put them in a ring binder and keep a pen in the front pocket.

  • A household page that sets the numbers for everything else
  • The first five minutes and the first five hours, in order
  • Water: gallons for people and pets, containers, rotation dates
  • Food: three days of meals you would actually eat, with quantities
  • Go-bag pages for every person, plus the pet and vehicle kits
  • A document folder plan and the contacts to write down
  • The numbers page: utility, water, clinic, out-of-area contact
  • A four-week build schedule, with the order to buy in when money is tight
  • A twice-yearly review, dated, so the kit does not rot quietly
  • Bonus: a web app that recalculates when the household changes

The arithmetic

The numbers are shown as sums you can check.

You are not handed a figure to trust. The water page shows the sum, so a household of five can work out its own answer without buying a second edition.

Every working page ends with one line: do this today. You are never given thirty things to do at once, only the next one.

People, 4 × 3 days × 1 gallon12 gallons
An infant counts as half a person0.5 each
A dog or cat, half a gallon a day1.5 gallons
This house, three days13.5 gal

Why paper

A power cut is exactly when a tab will not open.

The binder is the point. It sits in a kitchen drawer where you would look at two in the morning, not in a folder on a laptop that is out of charge. The app is there for the other job: keeping the numbers current when someone is born, moves in, or needs a different bag.

Who it is for

  • Renters and first-time owners who want a plan, not a shopping spree
  • Parents who need a child's bag written down so a partner could pack it
  • Anyone caring for an older parent whose medication or equipment needs power
  • People with some gear already, who want the pile to become a plan

Who it is not for

  • Anyone wanting a professional emergency-management standard
  • Anyone wanting gear shipped; nothing is shipped
  • Anyone who will not print it and write in it

What this is not. A planning tool, not medical, legal, financial or insurance advice, and it does not predict what will happen in your area. Water, food and cost figures are planning estimates for your household, not a guarantee of supply, nutrition or price. Follow your local emergency management office, your utility and your clinician first.

The planner and the app were written with AI assistance and edited by the seller. The app runs on your own device and makes no network requests.

Price

Questions

Before you print

Do I need a printer?

Yes, and that is the point. It is built to be written in by hand. A print shop will do it for a few dollars if you have no printer at home.

Can I fill it in on a tablet?

You can read it there and type into the bonus app, but the planner itself is a paper tool. The binder is what works when the power does not.

US or UK paper and measures?

US Letter, with US gallons on the water pages and metric equivalents beside them.

Does the app send my household details anywhere?

No. The app makes no network requests. The only storage it uses is your own browser, for its Save button.

What if my household changes?

Open the app, change the numbers, and it recalculates the water, food and bag lists. Write the new figures on the same pages, no reprint needed unless you want one.

Can I print copies for my parents?

Yes. Print as many copies as you like for households you personally help.

Is this medical, legal or financial advice?

No. It is a planning tool. Where medication or powered equipment is involved, it defers to your clinician and your equipment supplier.

Put it in the kitchen, not the attic.

Forty-five pages, one print job, and the arithmetic done for the people in your house. The parts you would get wrong are the parts already written down.
